What I collect, and why.

Who this is

The SEO Checkup is operated by Bound Communications Inc., Lower Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. Contact: hello@theseocheckup.com.

What gets collected

Cookies, analytics and session recording

This site runs the Meta pixel, which sets cookies and tells Meta that you visited, that you completed the scorecard, and whether you bought something. That is how advertising on Meta is measured, and it means Meta can show you ads from me later.

It also runs Google Analytics, which counts visits and which pages people move between, and Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling, and a replay of the session. I use it to find the places where this site is confusing, and nothing else. Clarity masks text you type into form fields, so what you enter is not captured in the replay, and the recordings are not linked to your name or your email address.

If you would rather neither of them ran, you can block them in your browser, and nothing on this site will stop working.

Who your information is shared with

Kit (formerly ConvertKit), for email. Your address and the fields above are stored there.
Stripe, for payment. They handle card details; I do not.
Tally or Fillout, for the document upload form on review orders.
Meta, for advertising measurement, as described above.
Google Analytics, for visit counts and page paths.
Microsoft Clarity, for anonymous session recordings used to improve the pages.

That is the whole list. Nothing is sold, rented or passed to anybody else, and nothing is shared with any SEO provider under any circumstances.

Documents you send for a review

This one matters more than the rest, so it gets its own section.

Your contract, reports and invoices are used to produce your review and for nothing else.
They are never shown to your SEO provider, and I do not contact them.
They are never used as an example, a case study or marketing material, in any form, identified or anonymised, unless you tell me in writing that I may.
They are deleted twelve months after your review is delivered, unless you ask for them sooner.

How long things are kept

Email address and preferences: until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
Review documents: twelve months, or sooner on request.
Payment records: as long as tax law requires, which is out of my hands.

What you can ask for

Email hello@theseocheckup.com and you can have a copy of everything I hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. No form, no process, and I'll do it within 30 days. Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it works immediately.

Changes

If this changes materially I'll email anyone on the list rather than quietly updating the page.
